Yes, it is possible to keep the number you already have from another wireless or landline carrier. First check to see if your existing number is eligible for transfer to T-Mobile. If your number is eligible proceed to the next question explaining how. In rare circ*mstances we are unable to transfer a number to our network. This is often because we don’t have a transfer agreement with the original service provider.
If your phone is not active with your new phone number you can call our Customer Care team after you have waited the expected time and ask about your port. You can reach us at 1 800-T-Mobile. Sometimes we need to correct some information before we can complete the transfer including things like misspelled names, incorrect billing addresses or other incomplete information.
Once you have decided to transfer your number to T-Mobile you will need the following information:
Phone Number(s) you want to transfer from your current Service Provider
Current Service Provider Name
Your current account number
Billing Address including Zip Code
You will also need to contact your current Service Provider and do the following:
Request a Porting Pin/Password
Confirm your device is unlocked and can be ported to another Service Provider
Request removal of any blocks or requirements on your account so you can port
Ensure all balances are paid to your current Service Provider

Don’t cancel your current service until your number is fully activated on your new T-Mobile account. Failure to do this could cause an interruption in service by either provider.

Wireless Service transfers should take anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours. Transferring landline service can take from 3-10 days.

To transfer your number, you need to provide your billing information, account details, and a letter of authorization to your new provider to initiate the porting process. You'll also need to share who your current provider is, the type of number you're looking to transfer, and how many phone numbers you want to port.
If you're switching service providers and remaining in the same geographic area, you can keep your existing phone number. This process – often referred to as phone number porting – can be done between wireline, IP and wireless providers.
There are a few things that have to happen to move your number from one carrier to another (this is called a port), and the elapsed time may vary depending on how quickly your current provider processes the port. On average, ports take 7-10 days to complete; however, they can take up to 4 weeks in rare cases.
Your phone number does not change when you transfer phones using your SIM card because your number is linked to the SIM card and the mobile network rather than the specific phone.
In these cases, you can probably expect the transfer to take place the next working day after the weekend. While you're waiting for the transfer to be processed, you should keep your old SIM in your handset. That way you'll still have a service and will be able to carry on using your phone.
Do not terminate your service with your existing company before initiating new service with another company. Contact the new company to start the process of porting your number. Provide the new company with your 10-digit phone number and any additional information required.
Phone companies are required by law to port your number out when you start service with a new carrier. According to the FCC, a company can't refuse to port your number even if you have an outstanding balance or unpaid termination fees.
You can port existing numbers by yourself by providing your current and new provider with notice of your intention to port your existing number when you switch services. You will also need to supply your new provider with all the information they need to apply your phone number to your new account.
Switch Your Phone Carrier and Keep Your Phone Number
Your new provider will activate your service and transfer your current phone number and data. Although the process may be complete in two to three hours, you may need to allow 24 hours for a full transfer.
When your new phone or SIM arrives, make sure you're disconnected from Wi-Fi and simply make a call or send a text. We'll then text you within 24 hours to let you know the date your number will be transferred. Your phone will lose service on the day your number is due to transfer.
An upgrade is when you wish to transfer your phone number and benefits from one Straight Talk device to another. To upgrade, go to www.straighttalk.com/Activate.Select "Activate or reactivate my phone with a number transferred from another Straight Talk phone" and then select "Continue."
You'll need a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code – sometimes called a 'PAC code'). This is a number that lets you transfer your current number to your new SIM card. You need to get this from your current network.
